Launch Event: Manchester Town Hall

Tuesday 06 December 2011

Discussion Paper v2

1.   Introduction

A Launch Event for the UK Healthy Cities Network is to be held on Tuesday 06 December 2011 in Manchester. The event is not envisaged to be a largescale conference and is likely to involve around 60 participants. Initial thoughts regarding aims are that the event should seek to:

§      formalise the establishment of the National Network

§      raise the profile of the Network and of the work of member cities within England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales – through launch of the brochure, presentations and publicity

§      facilitate the launch of a politicians’ sub-group

§      disseminate learning from the Communities for Health Programme, provide information about the Learning Exchange Opportunity (REACH programme) and facilitate the integration of those Communities for Health cities/towns that are able to meet membership requirements within the UK Healthy Cities Network.

The event is likely to include a formal launch and accreditation ceremony, keynote speeches, case studies and interactive sessions.
