Town Planning Committee
Purpose of committee
The Town Planning Committee is responsible for considering planning applications for permission to carry out development within the Belfast City Council area. These views are then submitted to the Planning Service in the Department of the Environment. The Committee has delegated authority from the Council in this regard where the decisions are unanimous. The Committee is responsible also for considering and commenting on housing development programmes and proposals submitted by the Government and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
