NI Strategic Migration Partnership - Sustainable Community and Demographics Working Group

Description

The NI Strategic Migration Partnership (NISMP) Sustainable Community and Demographics Working Group supports local councils in Northern Ireland to address changing demographics and migration. The group maps services for migrants, facilitates best practice sharing, and highlights the economic/social contributions of new residents to foster cohesive, sustainable communities. 

 

Key details regarding the group include:

  • Purpose: To assist local councils in managing the impacts of migration on community demographics and services.
  • Focus Areas: Mapping services for migrants, sharing practices, and understanding the social/economic impacts of migration.
  • Structure: Comprised of council representatives (councillors and officers) and supported by the broader NISMP.
  • Context: Acts within the wider NISMP framework, which works across government and the voluntary sector to ensure Northern Ireland is welcoming and integrated. 

 

The group was established to help councils address the needs arising from population changes and to support integration.
