Minutes:

The Committee was reminded that, at its meeting on 16th June, it had agreed to defer consideration of the above-mentioned application to enable the Council to carry out further consultation with local residents.

Subsequent to that meeting, the Town Solicitor had received a complaint regarding the Committee’s decision, specifically to the condition that the Council should carry out further consultation. The Town Solicitor, in conjunction with the Director of Planning and Place, had, therefore, reviewed the Committee’s decision and, in considering that the Council had met its statutory requirements in full, insofar as they related to public consultation requirements for planning applications, had referred the matter back to the Committee for further consideration.

The case officer outlined the principal aspects of the application.

The Committee received Ms. S. Boyce, representing the ‘Love Falls Park’ group, who outlined their objections to the proposal. In addition, Councillor Carroll spoke against the proposal, while Councillors Corr and Beattie spoke in favour.

The Town Solicitor and the Director of Planning and Place answered a range of Members’ questions.

The Committee granted approval, subject to the imposing of the conditions as outlined within the case officer’s report.
