Filming and Recording of Proceedings Minutes: The Chief Executive reported that requests had been received from a number of broadcasting companies for permission to film and record the election and installation of the Lord Mayor and the Deputy Lord Mayor. He asked that the Council indicate whether it wished to accede to those requests.
The Council granted the permission sought.

Expression of Thanks Minutes: The Lord Mayor (Councillor Long) reviewed her year in Office and expressed her appreciation for the support she had received from her husband Michael, the Deputy Lord Mayor (Councillor Lavery), the High Sheriff (Councillor Stalford) and the former High Sheriff (Councillor McCoubrey). She thanked also the staff who had assisted her during the previous year and placed on record her appreciation of the support which she had received from the Members of the Alliance Party.
The Deputy Lord Mayor (Councillor Lavery) reviewed his year in Office and expressed his gratitude for the support which he had received from the Lord Mayor. He placed on record his thanks for the support which he had received from all Members throughout his term and for the advice and assistance of all staff.

Tributes Minutes: Representatives of each of the Party Groupings on the Council paid tribute to the Lord Mayor and the Deputy Lord Mayor for the manner in which they had fulfilled their duties during their year in Office.

Election of Lord Mayor Minutes: Nominations were invited for the Office of Lord Mayor for the ensuing year. Councillor Convery was proposed by Councillor McCarthy and seconded by Councillor B. Kelly.
A division was demanded. A poll having been taken on the nomination, there voted for Councillor Convery thirty-seven Members, viz., the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor (Councillor Long); the Deputy Lord Mayor (Councillor Lavery); the High Sheriff (Councillor Stalford); and Councillors Attwood, Austin, M. Browne, W. Browne, Brownlee, Campbell, Convery, Crozier, Cunningham, Cush, Ekin, Hartley, Hendron, Humphrey, Jones, B. Kelly, N. Kelly, Kingston, A. Maskey, C. Maskey, McCabe, McCann, McCarthy, McKenzie, Mac Giolla Mhín, Mhic Giolla Mhín, Mullaghan, Newton, O’Neill, O’Reilly, L. Patterson, R. Patterson, Robinson and Rodway; whilst no Members voted against. Eleven Members, that is, Councillors Adamson, D. Browne, Cobain, Empey, Kirkpatrick, Kyle, McGimpsey, McMillen, Rodgers, Smyth and Stoker, did not vote.
Accordingly, it was
Resolved – That Councillor Pat Convery be and is hereby elected Lord Mayor of the City of Belfast for the period to end on the date of the Annual Meeting of the Council to be held in June, 2011.
Councillor Convery, having been conducted to the dais by Councillors McCarthy and B. Kelly, was installed in Office and subscribed to the Declaration of Acceptance of Office.

Election of Deputy Lord Mayor Minutes: The Lord Mayor invited nominations for the post of Deputy Lord Mayor for the ensuing year. Councillor Humphrey was proposed by Councillor Crozier and seconded by Councillor D. Browne.
There being no other nominations, it was accordingly
Resolved – That Councillor William Humphrey be and is hereby elected Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Belfast for the period to end on the date of the Annual Meeting of the Council to be held in June, 2011.
Councillor Humphrey, having been conducted to the dais by Councillors Crozier and D. Browne, was installed in Office and subscribed to the Declaration of Acceptance of Office. He then thanked the Members for his election.

That the decision of 12th May under the heading “St. George’s Market” in so far as it relates to the Sunday opening of the market be rejected and accordingly that a report on the strategic future operation of the market be submitted to the Committee as soon as practicable.
A division on the amendment was demanded. A poll having been taken on the amendment, there voted for it thirteen Members, viz., the Deputy Lord Mayor (Councillor Humphrey); the High Sheriff (Councillor Stalford); and Councillors W.
