The role of the Shadow Planning Committee will be to prepare the Council for taking on its new planning responsibilities and to enable members and the organisation to make robust decisions underpinned by legislation and policy; as well as to initiate discussions on the development of the Local Development Plan.

The work of the Committee will also involve linking with the other Shadow Committees to begin to develop the policies, processes and priorities for planning

including:

·         developing standing orders and a scheme of delegation

·         informing the development of the required Statement of Community Involvement and Local Development Plan

·         ensuring planning is closely linked to the emerging community planning process;

·         ensuring planning decisions and policy contribute to city visioning and priority setting.
